About the Project

After the presidential election of 2004, the media announced that America was morally divided like never before- split between red and blue, between the faithful and the faithless.

Back in Rhode Island, Gerry, a searching Christian and father of two girls, sat listening to the frenzy. Bewildered and disappointed by the Democrat's loss, Gerry decided to journey into red state America to meet the Evangelical Christians who supposedly single-handedly handed Bush his victory.

He contacted, Leah, a friend and novice filmmaker, to join him in this quest, and together they and their crew- a Hindu from England and a secular Jew from Brooklyn, set off.

Over the following year the team visited Megachurches and music festivals, MTV protests and radical Christian progressive communities, all the while trying to understand Evangelicals Christians and learn- what motivates their faith? What attracts them to the Republican Party?

Two months into the project, Gerry was saved and became a born-again Christian. Leah, who hoped she might find faith along the journey, became ever more secular.
